Heavy Plant Reliability & Equipment Installation: Industrial Millwright Wanted!

Are you a seasoned, journeyman-level industrial maintenance pro who thrives on complex mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, major machinery overhauls, and capital equipment installations? American Workforce Group has partnered with a premier, high-volume industrial processing and manufacturing leader to hire an experienced, full-time Industrial Millwright. Working on a dedicated 12-hour night shift (enjoying 3 to 4 days off every single week!), you will diagnose and repair critical production lines, lead equipment installations, drive preventative maintenance (PM) programs, and maintain facility infrastructure. If you bring strong diagnostic acumen, schematic literacy, and a safety-first mindset, let's put your trade expertise to work!

Description for Industrial Millwright:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical failures on heavy manufacturing machinery and processing lines.
  • Lead project planning and execution for new equipment installations, system modifications, and major plant outage rebuilds.
  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) programs and collaborate with the Maintenance Lead/Manager on shutdown scheduling and asset reliability.
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, mechanical schematics, and single-line electrical diagrams to map out safe, precise repairs.
  • Perform structural welding, cutting, torching, and precision fabrication using drills, saws, jacks, and shop equipment.
  • Safely rig equipment and operate overhead cranes, boom lifts, scissor lifts, ladders, and heavy industrial forklifts.
  • Perform minor facility infrastructure maintenance as required, including general plumbing, plant electrical circuits, and surface upkeep.
  • Maintain clear status communication with shift supervisors and production teams regarding machine availability and safe return-to-service handoffs.
  • Document work orders, PM histories, and parts consumption cleanly within Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office.
  • Manage replacement parts inventory: monitor critical spares, anticipate supply needs, stage parts, and verify incoming vendor deliveries.

Details for Industrial Millwright:

  • Pay Rate: $29.00 – $34.00 / hour (Scaling strictly based on verifiable journeyman depth, electrical/millwright licensing, and diagnostic skillset / DOE).
  • Schedule: Full-Time | Wednesday – Saturday | 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM (12-Hour Night Shift).
  • Work-Life Balance: Steady 12-hour shift pattern offering 3 to 4 consecutive days OFF every single week!
  • Training Period: Comprehensive initial onboarding and cross-training conducted on Day Shift before transitioning to your permanent night rotation.
  • Position Type: Full-Time, long-term trade career pathway with high organizational stability.

Requirements for Industrial Millwright:

  • Journeyman Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience at a journeyman level in an industrial plant maintenance environment (5–7 years preferred).
  • Trade Cards & Licensing: Valid Journeyman Millwright card or Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) card strongly preferred; must understand state licensing scopes/limitations for electrical and millwright work.
  • Controls & Schematics: Solid foundational understanding of electrical principles and schematics; PLC troubleshooting knowledge is a definite PLUS.
  • Project & PM Leadership: Proven track record planning equipment installations and managing structured preventative maintenance programs.
  • Tool & Rigging Mastery: Proficient with hand/power tools, cutting torches, welding equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, and high-reach equipment.

  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders, work at high elevations, and access confined spaces safely.
  • Exceptional history of attendance, self-directed troubleshooting, and zero-compromise safety standards.
